Dollar bill crisis

FYI: The Bursar's Office is out of $1.00 bills until after Thursday, 11/13/08, afternoon. Once the 20 I picked up this afternoon are gone, we will be out. The Bursar's Office staff suggested we go to the bank ourselves if we run out before the change delivery arrives on Thursday.

Fall Desk changes

Some changes when working reference…

1) Starting in the fall, the lobby doors and the outside entrance will be locked at 10pm when the librarian leaves to help the student maintain the gates and secure the building. Please assist the student in locking the doors before you leave for the evening.
2) We are no longer giving out password cards. All patrons will be required to access passwords through the GIL system. There is a link from the main page on how to do this under News and Events. Here is the direct link http://adminservices.clayton.edu/library/GALILEO_password.pdf
3) The new statistics sheet is pretty easy to follow… there is now a section for desk, telephone, and chat. Remember to put the mark in the medium that they used.
4) There will be a student schedule posted in the circ office and on the circ desk by Tuesday so you know who will be working when.
5) Students will be added to the emergency phone tree list so you have easy access to their numbers if you need them when you work evenings and weekends. This will be posted in the cabinets in the Circ office.
6) We are running meebo on the second computer. We will be letting the CSU1022 students know about the service in Sept. Be sure to check the sound for your shift so you can here the ding.

If you have any questions about these changes please let me know.

The mailboxes for part-time librarians (Alice, Gwen, Jackie, Mary, & Tim) have moved to the circulation/reserves department. If you have mail for any of them, place an addressed interoffice mail envelope with enclosed documents in Kara's mailbox and she will distribute it to the new location.

GIL Express - NO SSN option

Rhonda reported to me this morning that the SSN option for GIL Express has been removed. Removing the Social Security Number option is intended to make patron information more secure.

Students will use their Laker Id's or Barcode numbers to access the system.

Dumb Little Man article

I like this article. It's clear and concise but with really good information on working together.
